500.0 mL of gas at room temperature has a pressure of 19.0 psi. If the gas is placed in a 1.00L container and allowed to return to room temperature, what is its new pressure in psi? How many atm is this?

    New Pressure in 1 Liter container = 9.5 psi = 0.646 atm

    Explanation:

    P₁ = 19 psi

    V₁ = 500 ml = 0.500 Liter

    P₂ = ?

    V₂ = 1.00 L

    Boyle's Law = > P₁V₁ = P₂V₂

    => P₂ = P₂V₂/V₁ = (19psi) (0.500L) / (1.000L) = 9.5 psi x (0.068 atm/psi) = 0.646 atm
