If an ion has 26 protons and 24

electrons, what is the charge on the

ion?

    Explanation:

    Proton number = Electron number = Atomic number

    (Provided the element is in unreacted state)

    But, proton number = 26

    And electron number = 24

    This means the element has lost two (2) electrons thereby making it a positively charged ion.
