Whose idea was it to classify living things?

    Explanation:

    The great Greek philosopher Aristotle was the first person to begin classifying living organisms. His first system grouped them by physical characteristics, as well as the mode of movement.

    His system looked something like the following:

    - vertebrates

    - invertebrates

    - land and sea animals

    - animals with shells

    - animals without shells

    - plant-like animals

    Notice that Aristotle excluded quite a few organisms, like plants and fungi, but later scientists improved on it to become the classification system we use nowadays.
