The following reaction shows sodium hydroxide reacting with sulfuric acid.

4NaOH + 2H2SO4 → 2Na2SO4 + 4H2O

How many grams of Na2SO4 are produced from 10.0 grams of NaOH?

    Answer: 17.8grams

    Explanation:

    Equate the number of moles of NaOH to the number of moles of Na2SO4

    No of mole = reacting mass / molar mass

    10/40 x 4 = mass of Na2SO4/142 x 2

    10/160 = x/284

    X = 284 x 10/160

    X = 17.8 grams
