    The building blocks of proteins are known as amino acids

    amino acid is one of the building blocks of protein. when we eat protein form a large protein molecules inside our body and break these molecules into smaller units. There are 20 amino acids that we must obtain from food sources; these are called "essential amino acids."

    The amino acids are joined to form a long chain of acids by amino and carboxyl and yields water.
