You are measuring the density of an irregularly shaped object. Using the analytical balance you determine the mass of your object to be 38.88 grams. You then place the object into a graduated cylinder with 14.8mL of water, the volume rises to 33.4mL. Determine the density of your object tot he correct number of significant figures.

    Explanation:

    Mass = 38.88g

    Volume of water = 14.8mL

    Vol. of water + Vol. of object = 33.4mL

    Vol. Of object = 33.4 - 14.8 = 18.6mL

    Density = Mass / volume

    Density = 38.88 / 18.6

    Density = 2.09g/mL
