In a system in which the enthalpy changed - 447.1 kJ/mol and the entropy decreases by 75.1 kJ/mol•K, calculate the temperature at which the system will be at equilibrium.

    Explanation:

    The relationship between enthalpy (H), entropy (S)) and temperature (T) is given by;

    ΔG = ΔH - TΔS

    At equilibrium, ΔG = 0

    ΔH = - 447.1 kJ/mol

    ΔS = - 75.1 kJ/mol•K (Negative because it decreased)

    Substituting back ito the formulae, we have;

    0 = - 447.1 - T ( - 75.1)

    447.1 = 75.1 (T)

    T = 447.1 / 75.1 = 5.95 K
