What would likely have happened to earth if no icy debris had arrived?

    Icy debris came to earth in the form of comets that crashed on the surface. Scientists theorise that much of the water on earth arrived here as chunks of ice from comets. If this theory holds true then it means that the earth's surface would have much less water than it does today. The surface of the earth is presently seventy percent water.
