    Explanation:

    An exothermic reaction is one in which heat is given out to the surrounding. The reaction vessel feels hotter during an exothermic reaction. When LiI is dissolved in water, the reaction vessel feels hotter. Hence the dissolution of lithium iodide in water is exothermic.
