Answer: It truly depends on the type of metal.
Explanation: I have heard of people being able to shine silver with sulfuric acid, and sometimes gold, but not often enough to know if you can use it to shine jewelry in general, unless you are talking about the gemstones inside jewelry like rings to which i have no clue.
