    Where

    C = concentration of the solution (the unknown)

    V = volume of the solution = 7L

    C = 0.0858/7

    C = 0.01226 molL-1

    [H^+] = [HNO3] = 0.01226 molL-1

    pH = - log [H^+]

    pH = - log (0.01226)
