    CH₃C (CH₃) = CH-CH₂-CH₃ + Cl⁺ (electrophile) ⇒ CH₃C⁺ (CH₃) - C (Cl) H-CH₂-CH₃ (intermediate)

    CH₃C⁺ (CH₃) - C (Cl) H-CH₂-CH₃ + Cl⁻ ⇒ CH₃CCl (CH₃) - C (Cl) H-CH₂-CH₃ (final product)
