What were the limitations of democritus's ideas about atoms

    he thought that atoms were the smallest particle and could not be divided any more. the word 'atomos' which atom is derived from, means indivisible. we now know that atoms are made of sub-atomic particles, which are made of quarks (what sort of name is that), and these quarks are made of leptons and gluons.
