What is the oxidation state of each element in COH2?

    first of all will find for carbon

    so x + (-2) + (1*2) = 0. x=0

    carbon=0.

    For oxygen it will b

    ; 4+x+1*2=0, x=-6.

    Oxygen=-6. and finally

    For hydrogen;

    4 + (-2) + x*2=0; x=-1.

    Hydrogen=-1.

    and the overall oxidation state of molecule is zeroo and it is a neutral compound
