When the solid and liquid phases are present together simultaneously which phase contains greatere amount of energy?

    In the solid and liquid state, the main difference between the two states are the arrangement of the atoms,

    In the solid state, the atoms are tightly packed, and, hence are immobile in nature,

    And in case of liquid state, the atoms are loosely packed and hence, have some space between the particles.

    Liquid have higher energy as, they have more kinetic energy and hence, the particles are mobile and can move in different directions.

    The liquid phase will contain the greater amount of energy (if comparing kinetic energy) because they can move and rotate in certain directions whereas solids can't move in certain directions because their molecules are very tightly packed together
