How many moles of methane are produced when 48.1 moles of carbon dioxide react with excess hydrogen gas?

    The balanced chemical reaction for the reaction of carbon dioxide with the hydrogen gas is,

    CO2 + 4H2 - - - > CH4 + 2H2O

    From that, each mole of CO2 reacted with excess hydrogen gas will produce 1 mole of methane. Therefore, 48.1 moles CO2 also theoretically produce 48.1 moles of methane.
