Our friends argue about energy. They each had different ideas about energy. This is what they said: Polly I think energy gets used up like fuel. Sophie: I think energy causes things to happen around us. Trey: I think energy is a type force that makes things move. Chad: I think energy is a waste product given off when something is active.

With whom do you most agree? Explain why you agree with that person in 1-2 sentences.

Polly I think energy gets used up like fuel

    Explanation:

In physics, energy is defined as the ability of an object to do work.

In other words, energy define the capacity of an object of "doing something". This energy can be stored in the object in different forms, and then converted into other forms.

For instance: let's take a runner as example.

The energy is stored in the runner as chemical potential energy, which is stored inside the molecules of the food ingested by the runner.

Then, the runner starts running: so, the energy inside the runner, initially in the form of chemical potential energy, is now converted into another form of energy: the energy of motion, also known as kinetic energy.

Therefore, we can see that in this case, energy "gets used up", like fuel. In fact, as the runner continues his motion, more and more chemical potential energy is converted into kinetic energy; eventually, all the energy from the food will be used up, so he will run out of energy, and he would not be able to run anymore.
