What is the osmotic pressure of a 0.25 m solution of sucrose at 37°c? (r = 0.0821 l⋅atm/k⋅mol) ?

    Osmotic pressure is minimum pressure which need to applied to a solution to prevent inward flow of its pure solvent across a semipermeable membrane.

    osmotic pressure = cRT

    c=concentration = 0.25M or 0.25 mol/l

    R=gas constant=0.0821 atm/mol. k

    T=temperature=37 + 273=310k

    osmotic pressure is therefore

    0.25 mol/L x0.0821L. atm/mol. k x 310k=6.36atm
