Draw the product formed when the compound shown below undergoes a reaction with br2 in ch2cl2.

    The compound is the 2-butene: CH3 - CH = CH - CH3.

    When an alkene is mixed with Br2 in CH2Cl2 it undergoes a reaction called bromination (a type of halogenation).

    In these reactions the br2 molecule brake the double bond and substitue two hydrogens, one from each side of the former double bond.

    Thiis is the product formed:

    Its name is 2,3 dibromo - butane.
