Phosphorus-32 has a half-life of 14.3 days. How many milligrams of phosphorus-32 remain after 71.5 days is you start with 4.00 mg of the isotope?

    We first calculate the decay constant, λ

    λ = ln (2) / half life

    λ = ln (2) / 14.3

    The decay equation is:

    N = N (initial) x exp (-λt)

    N = 4 x exp (-ln (2) / 14.3 x 71.5)
