How many grams of methane, CH4 are produced from the complete reaction of 5.15 moles of carbon monoxide, CO
19 July, 19:22
The grams of CH4 that is produced is 82.4 grams
Co + 3 H₂ → H₂O + CH₄
Step 1 : Use the mole ratio to calculate the moles of CH4
The mole ratio of Co: CH4 is 1:1 therefore the moles of CH4
= 5.15 moles
step 2 : use the mass of CH4
mass = moles x molar mass
molar mass of CH4 = 12 + (1 x 4) = 16 g/mol
mass is therefore = 5.15 moles x 16 g/mol = 82.4 grams
