Steel is a hard strong metal made of iron and carbon. It contains less than 2% carbon and 1% manganese and small amounts of silicon, phosphorous, sulphur and oxygen.
Steel is the world's most important engineering and construction metal. Uses of steel can be divided into five categories: Construction, Energy, Packaging, Appliances and Transport.
Uses of steel are:
1. Construction of bridges
2. Construction of stadiums
3. Construction of airports
4. Construction of bridges
5. Making of screws, bolts, nails.
6. Used in Aerospace industry
7. Used in ship building.
8. Used in law enforcement armored vests.
9. Used in vehicle manufacture.
10. Stainless steel is used to make surgical scalpels.
