The rms speed of the molecules of a gas at 139°c is 181 m/s. calculate the mass of a single molecule in the gas.

    Answer: RMS = sqrt 3RT/M R is gas constant in (kg·m 2 / sec 2) / K·mol; T is temp in K; M is molar mass in kg 181 m/s = sqrt (3) (8.314) (412) / M sqrt M = 0.55 M = 0.298 kg = 298 g
