Calculate the number of joules released when 72.5 grams of water at 95 degrees Celsius to a final temperature of 28 degrees Celsius

    To find joules (heat) we use the following formula

    heat = mass x specific heat x ΔT

    mass = 72.5 grams

    specific heat (Water) = 4.184 j/g·C

    ΔT = 95 - 28 = 67 °C

    heat = (72.5 grams) (4.18 j/g·C) (67°C) = 20300 joules or 20.3 Kilojoules
