    Explanation:

    Distillation is the process of purifying a liquid by successive evaporation and condensation. Water vaporises at a lower temperature compared to the ink pigment, therefore, the mixture is heated to boiling so that the water evaporates leaving the ink pigments in the flask. The evaporated water can the be passed into a condenser which converts the water vapour into liquid.
