Explain the path of energy from the sun to mechanical energy in an organism

It is called the food chain in which it starts out as the sun. the grass uses the sun's energy then a grass hopper eats the grass and transfers the energy by getting eaten by lets say a frog and gets eaten by a snake and so on and so fourth. The energy the sun produces is Solar energy.
