Answer: If you add it to water, then molecules get energetic and began to vibrate. They drift from each other and expand, which makes water heat and begin to boil, depending on the temperature. When it cools, Molecular motion slows down, causing the space between them to decrease, until it turns into ice. This rule applies to all substances

When heat is added to a substance, the molecules and atoms vibrate faster. As atoms vibrate faster, the space between atoms increases. The motion and spacing of the particles determines the state of matter of the substance. The end result of increased molecular motion is that the object expands and takes up more space.
