    Geologic time is divided into four Eons, they are; the Hadean, the Archean, the Proterozoic, and the Phanerozoic. Archean Eon is the oldest which marks the beginning of the formation of Earth's crust (almost 4 billion years ago). Geologic Time Scale (GTS) was developed because scientists observed changes in the fossils going from oldest to youngest sedimentary rocks.
