Answers: Non metals which are in solid state would be brittle.

    Explanation:

    Elements are of 2 types.

    a) Metals

    b) Non metals

All the metals are solid at room temperature, except Mercury (Hg) which exists in liquid state.

The non metals mostly exist in solid or gas phase. The exception is bromine (Br) which exists in liquid state at room temperature.

Brittleness is one the properties of non metal which are in solid state.

Examples of non metals that are solid at room temperature are Carbon (C), Sulfur (S), Phosphorus, Iodine etc.

So we can say that non metals are the type of elements that we would expect to be brittle
