Energy produced by a change in temperature or vibration of atoms is termed as thermal energy.

    Explanation:

Energy can be produced in different forms like mechanical energy, vibrational energy, kinetic energy, potential energy, electric energy and thermal energy. So according to the given concept, if an energy is produced by changing the temperature or by vibration of atoms then that energy is termed as thermal energy.

As generally atoms will be vibrating in a normal pace around the central axis, but on increase in temperature, the speed of vibration will be increased in atoms. So due to this change in vibration or temperature of atoms, a kind of energy will be released and that is termed as thermal energy.
