    1.2 mm

    a) Calculate the volume of the block

    V = 50 g x (1 cm^3/8.64 g) = 5.79 cm^3

    b) Calculate the height of the block

    The formula for the volume (V) of a block is

    V = lwh

    where

    l = the length of the block

    w = the width of the block

    h = the height of the block

    We can solve this formula for the height.

    h = V / (lw)

    ∴ h = 5.79 cm^3 / (10 cm x 5 cm) = 0.12 cm = 1.2 mm
