Magnesium has a charge of + 2, and chlorine has a charge of - 1. To form a chemical bond, the compound would have magnesium ion (s).

    Since Mg has a charge of + 2 and Cl has a charge of - 1, there will be two ions of Cl. And the compound formed will be MgCl2
