    Density:

    The density of a substance is equal to the ratio of its mass and volume. In general we can say the density of a substance is mass per unit volume.

    Density = mass in g / volume in cubic cm or ml

    Given that

    Density = 8.92 g / ml

    Mass = 40.0 g

    Therefore,

    Volume = mass / density

    = 40.0 g / 8.92 g / ml

    = 4.48 ml

    Thus the correct answer is 4.48 ml
