A sample of pure lithium contains 7.99% lithium by mass. What is the % lithium by mass in a sample of pure lithium nitrate that has twice the mass of the first sample?

    The given molecule is lithium nitrate LiNO3

    % Li in a pure sample of LiNO3 of a certain mass = 7.99%

    As per the law of definite proportion a given compound will have the same elements that combine together in a fixed ratio by mass.

    Therefore, irrespective of the amount of LiNO3 taken, the percentage of Li will remain the same. i. e. Li will be 7.99% even if the mass of the sample of LiNO3 is doubled.
