An experiment is performed using 7 liquids; Methanol, Ethanol, Propanol, Butanol, Water, Pentane and Acetone.

a.) The order of rates of evaporation from fastest to slowest are shown: Pentane, Ethanol, Methanol, Acetone, Water, Propanol and Butanol. Why do the liquids evaporate in this order, regarding their intermolecular forces?

b.) How does this contribute to the question, "Why do liquids evaporate at different rates?"

A). The weaker the IMF the lower the evaporation rates of each liquid. So Pentane had the weakest IMF and Butanol has the strongest.

b). They all evaporate at different rates because of their differences in their bonds. Not all liquids are the same and they will all most likely evaporate at different times
