If 32 grams of oxygen are combined with 4 grams of hydrogen, how much water would be formed?

    Solution:

    First of all we will write the balance chemical equation.

    2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O

    Moles of oxygen = mass / molar mass

    Moles of oxygen = 32 g / 32 g/mol

    Moles of oxygen = 1 mol

    Moles of hydrogen = mass / molar mas

    Moles of hydrogen = 4 g / 2 g/mol

    Moles of hydrogen = 2 mol

    Now we compare the moles of water with oxygen and hydrogen.

    O₂ : H₂O

    1 : 2

    H₂ : H₂O

    2 : 2

    The moles of water produce by hydrogen and oxygen are same.
