These thick-haired goats originate in Turkey and are named after the country's capital, Ankara, historically known as Angora. Angora goat is a type of goat which is basically found in the hilly regions. Turkey, Argentina, the United States, and South Africa are the top producers of mohair. Secondary producers include New Zealand and Australia. For a long time, Angora goats were bred for their white coats.
