Nutrients can come back to soil through animals, plants, and even water. When animals die or produce waste, the nutrients returns to the soil and degrades with time. When a plant dies or a fruit from a tree falls to the ground, once the object disintegrates with time, nutrients is returned. Water can also bring things to the soil when it rains.
