The balanced reaction that describes the reaction between acetylene and oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water is expressed 2c2h2 (l) + 5o2 (g) = 4co2 (g) + 2h2o (g). We are given with 37 mol of c2h2 and 81 mol of O2. to find the limiting reactant, divide each with their respective stoich coeff. hence for c2h2, there is 18.5 and for O2, there is 16.2. The lesser is the limiting, hence the limiting reactant is oxygen.
