    It is said that when you apply light into an electron, a spark can be seen. This is what happens in the photoelectric effect. Photoelectric effect is seen on solids such as metals wherein it releases electrons when it is exposed in light. Energy in the form of light is being used by the electron to displace itself from its fixed position. An example is when you light a matchstick. The, head which contains phosphorus, electrons from its fixed position moves to a more excited energy level causing it to burst into flames.
