How many protons (p) and neutrons (n) are in an atom of magnesium-26?

    Well first of all, we know that the atomic mass of magnesium is 26 due to the fact that it is stated. We can then go to the periodic table and find the atomic number of magnesium, which is 12. We then subtract, 26 - 12 = 14.

    Neutrons - 14
