    Given parameters:

    Specific heat capacity = 2.03J/g °C

    Mass of wood = 550g

    Initial temperature = 10°C

    Final temperature = 35°C

    Unknown:

    Amount of heat = ?

    Solution:

    The quantity of heat supplied to a substance to effect a temperature change is given as;

    H = m c Ф

    here m is the mass

    c is the specific heat capacity

    Ф is the temperature change

    The temperature change is the difference between the final and initial temperature.

    Ф = Final temperature - Initial temperature = 35 - 10 = 25°C

    Input the parameters:

    H = 550 x 2.03 x 25 = 27912.5J
