Cloud seeding is a technique used to alter the weather in order to change the amount of precipitation that falls from the sky from clouds. Substances are dispersed into the atmosphere that will act as cloud condensation and this will alter the processes that occur inside clouds to result in more or less precipitation and can also change the type of precipitation.

One problem with precipitation currently is the damage that is potentially caused to crops and populated areas. Specifically in areas of where crops are grown, there is often severe weather conditions that can accompany these areas. An example would be hail and freezing rain which are two damaging types of precipitation that could destroy crops. However, with cloud seeding, the water vapour present in the atmosphere will be much more regulated and this could greatly prevent any potential damages that could occur from precipitation.
