Specific gravity = density of a substance/density of water

or density of a body = specific gravity * density of water

    = specific gravity*1 gm/cc (in C. G. S system density of water = 1 gm/cc)

Here density of the body = 14.5 gm/cc (remember specific gravity is a ratio so it has no unit; it is mere number)

when a body is immersed in water it displaces water equal to its volume (Archimedes principle)

Hence volume of the body = 4 ml

    But Density = mass / volume or mass = volume * density = 4 * 14.5 = 58 gm.
