If a hill or Mountain has a high gradient (slope) what happens to the speed of a river flowing downward and the rate of erosion?

    If the hill or mountain has a high gradient (slope) then the y-component of its velocity is relatively higher compared to the ones which is not very steep. Even if in whatever case, the acceleration due to gravity is still the same.

    With the relatively high velocity, the rate of erosion is also higher.
