Statue breakdown due to acid rain can take decades, but statues with intricate carvings break down more quickly. The reaction of the acid from rain would react slowly with the statue and as time goes this acid would decrease in amount. However, for statues with intricate carvings, acid would tend to stay for a long time in these carvings and would react as the days went by.
