What is a fluid? Give some examples of different fluids.

    Any substance which flows or changes its shape under an applied shear stress is called as a fluid.

    Fluids can be categorized into five main different types which are as follows:

    1. Real fluid,

    2. Ideal fluid,

    3. Ideal plastic fluid,

    4. Newtonian fluid; and

    5. Non-Newtonian fluid.

    While some examples of fluids include:

    Air, water, oil, river flowing down a mountain, blood moving through a circulatory system.
