What do you expect to see as the following redox reaction takes place? Mg (s) + ZnCl2 (Aq) = MgCl2 (Aq) Zn (s)

    I would expect to see

    • the piece of Mg slowly become smaller

    • particles of Zn gradually appear in place of the Mg

    The solid Mg becomes soluble MgCl_2 and soluble ZnCl_2 becomes solid Zn.
