The network segment is known as collision domain

    Explanation:

Collision domain happens in the layer two of the OSI model of a hub environment. When two or more hosts on a shared network segment talk at the same time, a collision will occur. The packets sent by these host nodes must re-send these packets once more and this back and forth collision may cause network inefficiency. In a collision domain of a hub environment, nodes contend for access to the network and this too much contention causes collisions to occur. The reason why collision domain occurs so much on hubs as compared to switches or routers is that ports on a hub belong to the same collision domain.
