The word 'initiative' has a lot of definitions to it, so I will only list a few.
#1 definition of initiative would be: a new plan or process to achieve something or solve a problem
#2 definition of initiative would be: the ability to assess and initiate things independently
#3 definition of initiative would be: the opportunity to act or take charge before somebody else do.
